Dixie Fire Is Less Than 1/3 Contained

Butte campfire lawyers deadline

According to a report by NPR, the Dixie Fire in Northern California has only reached a ~33% containment rate. In other words, the fire continues to ravage the area, with 780 square miles of California now engulfed by the flames. It’s now the largest wildfire in California history. It has destroyed over 500 homes and destroyed the majority of historic downtown Greenville.

The fire, however, did spare the tiny town of Chester, but the blaze transformed the landscape. It’s likely to take several years for the environment to restabilize to pre-fire levels.

Unfortunately, the Dixie Fire isn’t the only fire raging in the Western United States, nor even in California alone. In fact, several thousand people were ordered to evacuate in Montana due to the Richard Spring Fire. In addition, large fires are burning in 14 states throughout the Western U.S.
